One of the segments we feature today is about our new Virtual Visitation Initiative. The initiative aims to help patients heal through connection and to provide emotional support to their friends and family while the no visitor policy remains in effect. In April, donors to Natividad Foundation’s COVID-19 Relief Fund purchased 18 iPads. These tablets help our hospitalized patients without smart devices visit their loved ones through video apps, such as FaceTime or Zoom. The Foundation also purchased an assortment of chargers for those patients who do have smartphones or tablets but forgot them at home. Thank you to our nurses for getting this innovative program launched and for the generous support from Patient Experience, IT and Natividad Foundation.
I appreciate everyone who submitted questions this week, which included inquiries about testing, masking visitors and temperature checks.
After 30 years, Chief Pathologist Dr. John Jameson’s last day at Natividad is tomorrow. Please join me in wishing him an excellent and enjoyable retirement.
Finally, it’s Nurses Week and I want to take a moment to say thank you to all of your nurses. These are stressful times and we appreciate all of your hard work, and everything you do for our patients and the hospital.
We are shooting new videos regularly, and I will be providing video updates frequently – at least once per week. If you have any questions, comments or concerns about Natividad’s response to coronavirus, please email ask@natividad.com and we will work to address them in future video updates.
