Natividad, Mee Memorial Hospital, Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System and Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula have partnered with the Grower-Shipper Association to offer in-field coronavirus education by medical professionals. Since Tuesday, Family Medicine Residents have visited several farms, packing sheds and processing facilities, including Sierra Farms in Moss Landing, Blue Ribbon Frozen Foods in Watsonville, C&M Cooling in Castroville and Watsonville Produce in Moss Landing.
Our collective goal is to ensure agricultural workers received expert guidance on COVID-19 protective measures. We are working to promote this outreach and hope that every grower and shipper in our area reserves some time with our frontline health care workers, so their employees learn how to take precautions at home to stay safe and healthy.
Bilingual medical staff are welcome to volunteer to help with this outreach. We will have additional sessions starting next week and sending 2 people to each session. Please email Janine Bouyea at bouyeaj@natividad.com with your interest.
We are also in touch with PBS, the Monterey County Weekly and other media and have invited them to join us for a future session in the fields.
