200420 - Natividad Update (From Dr. Gray, CEO)

Article Date
April 20, 2020

Good afternoon,

We know that connection and emotional support are essential components to recovery. With the No Visitor Policy in effect due to COVID-19, Nursing, IT, Marketing, Quality, Compliance and Natividad Foundation have come together to help bring our families together through Natividad’s Virtual Visitation Initiative. We are now rolling out the first phase of the project. In ICU, nurse Marjorie Balleras hosted the first virtual visitation for one of our intubated patients. She provided a FaceTime meeting on a hospital iPad for the patient’s family and it was an extraordinarily emotional and well-received visit. Nursing will soon roll out the program to other parts of the hospital. Look for more information and training in the coming days.

As of this morning, there have been 141 confirmed cases of COVID-19 among Monterey residents. Please see attached Monterey County Health Department’s Daily Situation Report for more details. At Natividad, our results are as follows:

  • Total tests - 451
  • Pending tests - 13
  • Positives – 32 (includes 3 inpatients and 1 death)
  • 3 PUIs
