Good Afternoon,
Yesterday we launched our COVID-19 video updates on Sharepoint. You can access all of the videos here. We are creating new videos regularly, and I will be providing updates frequently – at least once per week. If you have any questions, comments or concerns about Natividad’s response to coronavirus, please email ask@natividad.com and we will work to address them in future video updates.
As of 11:59 pm April 12, 2020, there have been 87 confirmed cases of COVID-19 among Monterey County residents (no change).
399 patients tested at Natividad
- 268 Monterey County Health Department
- 13 MCHD pending
- 140 Independent Lab
- 0 independent pending
- 20 positive patients:
- 18 seen in emergency medical triage tent or ED isolation room. All were fully isolated and sent home under quarantine with care instructions.
- 1 confirmed hospitalized patients.
- 1 death.
Our Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) continues to ensure that we have the right plans in place. Our personal protective equipment (PPE) remains adequate. We currently have a 2-week supply on hand of isolation gowns and are developing alternatives for gowns as we await delivery of 50,000 gowns, including Tyvek and washable gowns.
Natividad leaders are working closely with vulnerable populations, including the homeless, agricultural workers and jail/prison population. Dr. Chad Harris sat on a town hall meeting held in Spanish yesterday and I continue to participate in regular Monterey County media briefings on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. You can view those media briefings on the Monterey County YouTube channel here.
The county expects 90-100 alternative housing trailers to arrive this week. Monterey County is also establishing an alternative care site for those who do not need intensive care but require hospitalization. I hope to share more information on that later this week. The need for alternative care sites will be driven by adherence to the Shelter in Place order and social distancing. This order has slowed the spread of COVID-19 in our community and given us much-needed time to develop a comprehensive surge plan. Modeling does indicate that we will likely experience a surge in coming weeks and we are doing everything we can to maximize our capacity.
Thank you to everyone for your hard work.
